MME MOVIEMENT – a success story according to plan

2007

On 27 February 2007 ALL3MEDIA Deutschland GmbH, a 100 per cent subsidiary of ALL2MEDIA Limited – one of the leading TV production companies in UK – announces to place a public offer of € 7,00 per share to acquire all shares of MME MOVIEMENT AG. The management and the members of the board also intend to sell their shares and welcome the offer.

On 29 March 2007 ALL3MEDIA Deutschland GmbH announces, that the offer to acquire all shares of MME MOVIEMENT AG has been published.

At the end of the offer period on 4 March 2007 it is clear, that ALL3MEDIA is the new majority shareholder owning 82,27%. Following to the prolongation of the offer period the shares increase up to 82,31%. 

The members of the management board of MME MOVIEMENT AG agree to and welcome the take over. ALL3MEDIA and MME MOVIEMENT are leading TV production companies in the UK and Germany, Europe’s two largest TV markets. Both companies are managed by the same corporate philosophy to combine independent producer labels.


2006

In November MME MOVIEMENT AG has entered into an agreement regarding the acquisition of a 100 per cent stake in time 2 talk Entertainment GmbH coming into effect on 31 December 2006. Founders and sole shareholders of time 2 talk are Vera Int-Veen (2,064 shows of “Vera am Mittag”/Sat1 until January 2006, “Glückwunsch!-Vera macht Träume wahr”/Primtime on RTL II,) and Ulrich Hansbuer. In the future, the company will produce all new formats and programmes of Vera Int-Veen. Dr. Markus Schäfer will join Vera Int-Veen and Ulrich Hansbuer as managing director of time2talk.

In April 2006 MME MOVIEMENT and producer Annette Reeker join forces and immediately launch the jointly operated production company Lunet Entertainment GmbH headquartered in Munich. The company evolved from the production house Lunet Entertainment GmbH & Co. KG, unded in 2003 by Ludwig zu Salm and expanded with Annette Reeker. Company founder Ludwig zu Salm relinquishes his shares. Dr. Markus Schäfer becomes general manager for TV production along with Annette Reeker. The Lunet Entertainment-produced TV series "Alles ausser Sex" (Everything But Sex) is already in its second season.
 
AllMedia Pictures teams up with renowned producer Jürgen Kriwitz and German star director Dieter Wedel. The TV movie “Mein alter Freund Fritz” (My Old Friend Fritz) produced for ZDF – featuring Ulrich Tukur and Veronica Ferres in central roles – is their first co-production.


2005

On 1 November 2005 MME AG acquires white balance gmbh from popular German moderator Jörg Pilawa, who shall remain general manager of white balance for the next five years and thus ensure the company’s continuity. white balance and Grundy Light Entertainment GmbH co-produce the weekday quiz show “Das Quiz mit Jörg Pilawa” for ARD. Other popular shows include “Das Starquiz“ (Star Quiz), “Der große Erziehungstest” (The Big Test of General Knowledge) and “Wie alt bist Du wirklich?” (How Old Are You Anyway?). 2005 was also the year of successful docusoaps including “Bauer sucht Frau” (Farmer ISO Wife) – MME GmbH for RTL, “Sarah & Marc in Love” – MME GmbH for ProSieben, and “Tierarzt Dr. Dreese” (Veterinarian Dr. Dreese) – filmpool for Discovery Channel . The daily format “Einsatz in 4 Wänden” (Mission in 4 Walls) is adapted for prime time and starts airing as a weekly broadcast in the fall on RTL as “Einsatz in 4 Wänden – Spezial” (Mission in 4 Walls – Special). In November “Bravo TV” returns to television on ProSieben (MME GmbH).

On 31 May 2005 the general meeting resolves to rename the company MME MOVIEMENT AG and to transfer the headquarters to Berlin.


2004

MME AG acquires moviement GmbH retroactively as of 01.01.2004 including the production companies filmpool and AllMedia. Former Sat.1 director Martin Hoffmann returned to the industry as the organisation's Chief Executive Officer. The moviement GmbH acquisition by MME AG results in the creation of Germany's leading independent TV production company. The new company possesses a broad programming portfolio, soon to encompass all major TV programming genres. Mr. Hoffmann's extensive experience and expertise in the industry will be a valuable asset to the company. A solicitor with a ten-year track record as a manager at Sat.1, Hoffman led the company for three years as Managing Director. His tenure saw a number of blockbuster successes including the outstanding and award-winning movie events The Tunnel and The Miracle of Lengede. Hoffmann, 45, was also instrumental in the restructuring of afternoon TV with hit court shows like Richterin (Judge) Barbara Salesch and Richter (Judge) Alexander Hold along with early evening docu-soaps on Sat.1 that are still reaping high ratings today.

2003

Christoph Post replaces Stefan Eishold as CEO. MME AG managing executive Gerhard Schneider becomes new CFO, also assuming the role of Head of Production and Investor Relations. Eishold and Jörg A. Hoppe rotate into the Supervisory Board, on which Peter Würtenberger remains a member. MME posts a highly-acclaimed highlight within ZDF's programming with the Unsere Besten programme ('Our Best'). MME's Einsatz in 4 Wänden ('Mission in 4 Walls' -- RTL) and cooking show Schmeckt nicht, gibt's nicht ('Don't fancy it is not an option' -- VOX) raise the bar for programming quality in the servicetainment segment.

2002

MME founders Jörg A. Hoppe and Christoph Post are named the Echo Media Men of the Year at an awards ceremony in Berlin. The Swinging Sixties programme on WDR is MME's successful answer to the retro trend in place.

2001

MTV2 POP replaces VH-1 as of 1 May. Through 30 April 2001, MME subsidiary Eye Love You TV-Produktions-GmbH had produced this 24-hour full-service programming for music station VH-1. The change marked the end of an era for music television in Germany, as the new music channel MTV2 The Pop Channel took over the slot on 1 May 2001 with a revamped concept: non-stop pop for the 10 to 19-year age group. VH-1 had focused on an older music audience with a blend of classic tunes and newer hits ranging from the 60's through the 90's.

2000

Documentary series POP 2000 is awarded the 36th annual Adolf Grimme Prize at the start of the year in the category of Information + Culture, also receiving the Special Prize awarded by the Ministry of Employment, Social Issues, Urban Development, Culture and Sport of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. MME continues to concentrate its multimedia activities on its core business, launching the internet portals Eyedoo and ShowNet in August. Digitalisation of the MME music video archive gets underway. In June, Stefan Eishold joins the Board of Management. MME Me, Myself & Eye Entertainment AG is founded in October and goes public on the Neuer Markt (listed on 20 November 2000). The Board of Management consists of Stefan Eishold (CEO), Jörg A. Hoppe and Christoph Post. The Supervisory Board is made up of Harro von Have (Chairman), Peter Würtenberger and - pro tempore - Dr. Rüdiger Zeller.

1999

The starting gun sounds for MME cinema production. MME co-produces Der tote Taucher im Wald ('The Dead Diver in the Forest' directed by Marcus Rosenmüller) together with Helkon Media AG (Munich) and NICK KNATTERTON (directed by Nicki List). The company eye C music Musikproduktions- & Verlagsgesellschaft mbH is founded. As a joint venture of MME (60%) and Munich firm Helkon Media AG (40%), eye C takes over music supervising of fiction productions. Managing directors are Britta Fleck and Marc Lammek. MME sells mme|cc at yearend to Scandinavian internet group AHEAD A/S International.

1998

MME/Musik Komm. TV- und Medien-Produktionsgesellschaft mbH is founded, which produced the twelve-part TV documentary series POP 2000 for WDR. The series is broadcast on all ARD channel threes (starting September 1999). Two CD projects in cooperation with GRÖNLAND and a book are also brought to market building upon the TV series.

1997

Out of the MME Media Lab evolves the new media agency mme|cc: (Expo 2ooo, Milka, Kraft, Sony Playstation etc. etc.), which grows into one of the leading full-service agencies for the conception and management of online services. Christian Gummig is appointed Managing Director of this wholly-owned MME subsidiary.

1996

MME opens offices in Cologne. Heinrich Bauer Verlag now holds 44.85% of MME, while founders Hoppe, Post and Rosenmüller continue to each hold 18.38% of the equity.

1995

Publishing company Heinrich Bauer Verlag of Hamburg buys a 35.1% stake in MME. The MME Media Lab is launched in Hamburg. Wholly-owned subsidiary ELY - Eye Love You TV-Produktions GmbH - begins operations, hired by VIACOM to produce the entire programme of music station VH-1. Dortmund office opened. Hoppe, Post and Rosenmüller divest stake in VIVA.

1994

MME acquires 100% stake in Munich GRF Film- und TV-Produktions-GmbH. In partnership with the BURDA group of publishing companies MME holds a 30% stake in CGS Computer Game Show GmbH, which produces the interactive ZDF show X-Base. That same year MME opens an office in Los Angeles. In December 1994 the company moves its headquarters to Hamburg.

1993

MME conceives and initiates Germany's first music channel, VIVA, in Cologne, launched 24.12.1993. Jörg A. Hoppe, Christoph Post and Marcus Rosenmüller are behind the founding and naming of VIVA, bringing Dieter Gorny on board as Executive Director. Christoph Post becomes first VIVA Programming Director.

1992

MME headquarters move to Hamburg, Hoppe is appointed CEO.

1991

Me, Myself & Eye Film- und Fernsehproduktionsgesellschaft mbH is founded in Munich, named by founders Jörg A. Hoppe, Christoph Post and Marcus Rosenmüller after a hit song by the band De La Soul. From the beginning it was decided that MME would also produce fictional material in addition to TV programming. The founders had known each other from their mutual tenure at Munich broadcaster Tele 5.
